After spending over ten years litigating complex matters in federal and state courts, I decided to focus my career on alternative dispute resolution services because I believe outcomes achieved through these processes are more satisfactory and durable compared with those obtained through traditional litigation.  Unlike litigation, where a judge or jury decides who wins a case, the amount of damages to be awarded, etc., in mediation and similar models, the parties craft solutions that best meet their needs.

As a lawyer, I always enjoyed helping clients through difficult moments. Far too often, however, I felt like clients were frustrated and disappointed by the litigation process, which is what drove me to become a mediator.

As a mediator, I am able to help people resolve disputes through a healthier and less adversarial process.

In addition to completing the intensive, 40-hour facilitative mediation training and certification program through Northwestern University, I have also undergone training and certification in collaborative law through the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois. I am also committed to charitable causes, including serving as a volunteer mediator and sitting on the boards for several community organizations.

I look forward to working with you to resolve your disputes in a better way.

The McHale Law Group offers mediation services for a variety of legal disputes. An experienced mediator, Mr. McHale can help you resolve a civil, commercial, family or real estate dispute at any stage of litigation or before the commencement of your case.

A collaborative divorce is one where the spouses work together, along with a team of specially trained professionals, to resolve each aspect of a traditional divorce, such as dividing marital assets and creating a parenting plan.  Rather than having a judge make these decisions, the spouses do, with support and guidance from the team.  A collaborative divorce includes two lawyers who are trained in the collaborative process (one for each spouse), as well as a divorce coach (often a mental health provider).  The team may also include a financial neutral and child specialist, depending upon the circumstances of the family.
